We are happy to announce two unique string camps to be offered this summer.

This week- long day camp for string players ages 12-18 and skill levels of intermediate to advanced is a unique summer program combining intensive string education under master teachers with an eclectic interdisciplinary arts experience.
Audition recording encouraged for best placement, but not required for String Intensive Camp 2016
Please send in a simple smart phone type video with your performance of a scale of your choice (number of octaves you are comfortable with) & two (30 seconds) excerpts from two contrasting polished pieces. Video should be emailed to email@example.com when enrolling for camp or by May 2, 2016 to meet the Registration Deadline. [Late registration is May 31, 2016]. This week-long day camp for string players ages 7-12 and skill levels of advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced students will have fun exploring new ways to enjoy their instrument, playing in groups, explore new genres, playing with other young musicians and working with experienced teachers.
Partial scholarships are available. To apply for financial assistance please download the Scholarship Application 2016 (pdf). Then please return via one of the following options:
1. Print, fill out, and mail Scholarship Forms with Enrollment Forms & $50 Deposit
2. Print, fill out, scan & email Scholarship Forms to email@example.com (deposit will still need to be mailed in).

Joyful Noise is proud to announce Emily Schaad will be this year’s artist-in-residence for both string camps!
Emily Schaad (violinist/violist/fiddler/conductor) grew up in the Hudson Valley of New York State and pursued viola studies at the Juilliard School and Curtis Institute of Music. She has taught for 15 years at Stringendo Orchestra School, conducting youth orchestras and directing the teen traditional music group Strawberry Hill Fiddlers. Emily performs as a fiddler with Americana band Old Buck and as a violist with Asheville Symphony Orchestra. She holds an MA in Appalachian Studies from Appalachian State University and is currently working toward a doctorate in Music Education from Boston University.
