My name is Caitlin Whitehouse and I’m a violinist. I recently relocated to the Asheville area in February and I’m very excited to be a part of the Joyful Noise Community. I grew up in Sarasota, Florida, a beautiful city on the Gulf Coast of Florida. I’ve been playing the violin for over fifteen years. During this time, I have been honored to perform at remarkable venues such as Carnegie Hall, Bass Hall, and even at the Cowboys Stadium with Tim McGraw. I have a degree in violin performance from the University of North Texas, where I studied classical music and was able to perform on many classical and jazz recitals with many of my incredible colleagues. I have also performed country/bluegrass music with several bands in Dallas, as well as funk music at the Dallas House of Blues, opening for Parliament Funkadelic. I was fortunate enough to share the stage with Dave Brubeck, performing one of his compositions at the University of North Texas. Other regular engagements include performances at weddings. I have performed for over a hundred weddings in the Dallas area, during the seven years that I lived there. Each wedding is a unique experience and the musical selections include everything from classical to popular music. I also have experience recording in the studio. I’ve recorded in Nashville, Florida, and Texas.
During the time that I am not performing, I love to spend my time teaching! I have eight years of experience teaching both violin and piano. I teach students as young as four, and as old as possible! In my eyes, it is never too late to experience the joy of learning how to play music. I balance hard work with fun in my lessons, and I am open to teaching many different styles of music. I believe in teaching the essential technical fundamentals, but I personalize my lessons to the student’s goals and interests and help them to achieve their musical dreams.
